By Anne Mikusinski
PROMPT—Ask Me.
All my borrowed books
Have had their dates
Advanced again
Affording me more
Time
To get to know the people who reside
Within
To get lost in their worlds
And familiar with their stories.
All my music
Recorded and requested
Waits
For me to listen and
Relax
In its embrace
To appreciate what it has to offer
And to process the emotions elicited.
All my conversations are more important
Now
The words more carefully
Chosen
And the thoughts expressed sincerely
So to be well understood.
All I have is
Time
On my hands
And too many ways to spend it
Well.
Anne Mikusinski has been making up stories and poems for as long as she can remember and writing them down since she was seven. She loves the power words have to move people, elicit emotions, and sometimes change the world. Mikusinski's influences range from Sylvia Plath and Robert Frost to David Byrne and Nick Cave. She hopes that one day some of her writing will leave as much of an impression on readers as these artists have on her. Mikusinski writes from Poughkeepsie, NY.
