Only Love and Tolerance

By Gail Epps

PROMPT — If only ...

If only

love and tolerance

had been stronger

over time

then,

like dinosaur flesh

any fear left

on these bones

would have

disappeared

a long time ago.

Gail Epps should be considered a “re-entry” poet who is once again seeing poetry as a literary methodology where language can open hearts and heal wounds. At this point in a creative life which includes careers as a chef, headhunter, scholar, and a rock and roll musician, poetry makes sense as another mystery box for making the images and plans for a kinder world where love will always flourish and prevail. Gail writes from Durham, NC.
