Krapp's Last Tape

By Doug Holder

PROMPT — Who am I today?

I am the widower

who stares at

framed pictures

and talks to ghosts.

I am an aging man

who hears

voices

in the

cracks

of the floorboards.

I am "Krapp's Last Tape"

a spool

that is constantly

rewound to

a fleeting moment

when her eyes

opened and

she let me in.

**** Krapp's Last Tape" is a play by Samuel Beckett
