By Gerry Grubbs

PROMPT — Joy is ...
I was so tender this morning
The way you feel when broken
Open a softness comes
Doesn’t matter if it is happiness or grief
The smallest thing calls for tears
Every tiny flower I passed
As it was trying to unfurl touched me
Yes I said I know how long
Your dark voyage has taken
And the courage it takes
To expose those delicate colors
In such a harsh world
But I also know the freedom
That comes from being who you are
